3 content habits that harm your revenue

Good or bad, habits deliver results.

The trick is identifying the bad ones, and replacing them with good ones.

So here’s the three most common bad content habits we help our clients break out of. (That directly impact revenue.)

1. Having NO Strategy.

Creating your marketing strategy sucks.

Yet, no strategy = no results.

Fortunately for you, I’ve invested a ton of time in coming up with a 3-Step Strategy that gets results, without draining all the joy out of being a creator.

Its aim is simple – create intentional content that convinces your audience to take a desired action. (click, buy, and all in between)

In short, identify:

  • What you’re selling.
  • Who you’re selling to.
  • What they need to see to buy.

It’s called the Targeted Content Model.

Example:

You’re selling an online Personal Training package for busy professionals.

  • What you’re selling: Online Personal Training.
  • Who you’re selling to: Busy professionals that want to stay in shape, but have no time for gym.
  • What they need to see in your content to buy: Before & after photos of previous clients (results), science-based fitness advice (another proof you know your shit), case studies (people having the same issues & solving them), and the list goes on.

You get the point.

Every time you write, come back to this Model.

2. Writing About Stuff That Don’t Prove Your Expertise.

As an entrepreneur, your job is to make it 100% clear that you’re an expert your clients can trust.

Each time you write a post, ask yourself, “Does this make my clients trust me MORE?”. If not, no point in posting.

Here’s 10 examples of Authority-Building content types:

  1. Myth Buster – What your client believes, but you know is bullshit.
  2. Result – Works best as a specific number + testimonial combo.
  3. Advice – How to get [Desired Outcome].
  4. Template – “Been tweaking this template for x months/years. It’s yours now.”
  5. System – “Here’s my exact playbook you can use.”
  6. Common Mistake – X mistakes preventing you from [Result].
  7. Change Of Perspective – Approach your clients’ problem from a new angle.
  8. STEP – X steps to solve [Problem].
  9. Testimonial – Screenshot it, highlight the key points, and you’re done.
  10. Bad vs. Good – [Bad Practice] impact – [Good Practice] impact.

3. Writing From Scratch.

The key to writing well, writing fast, and writing profitably isn’t originality.

It’s taking something tried & tested, adding a twist, and applying it to your industry.

That means building up a:

  • Swipe file of high performing posts.
  • Proven Templates that simplify & speed up the writing process.
  • “Idea Generators”, identifying what to post about.

I have them.

Dina has them.

And you can find them all here.

Why This Matters.

Content that brings in paying clients is 20% strategy, 40% topics you talk about, and 40% copywriting.

So before you hit “post”:

  • Define the goal of your post.
  • Make sure the topic is relevant to your Ideal Client.
  • Use strong copy.

When the results start coming in, and you’re making 6-figures a month, remember where you heard it first.

Hugs and kisses,

Stevan
